Task 1 Process Document
Process of Creating a Website
The first step I took to create my website was to choose a website hosting service. I chose to use the web service Weebly to host my website, create a domain for my website, and allow me to format my website using this service’s pre-set tools. Next, I chose my website domain name: thompsonportfoliotdt.weebly.com. After I chose my domain name, I selected a theme for my website. The theme comes with pre-set backgrounds and navigation bar layout. Next, I changed the font styles by clicking on the ‘design’ tab in the editing screen. I continued to edit my design by changing colors, and adding bold font style to the headers. The Weebly designer has a drag-and-drop feature (under the ‘build’ tab) to add headings, text boxes, and images to the pages. The template I picked had the first page already set up with a header and text box to the right of the header so I only needed to drag over one text box to the bottom of my template page. Then I typed my information in the boxes. Then I dragged the image box over to the bottom of my home page to add a picture on the bottom. Next step was to change the pages for the navigation bar. I went to the tab labeled ‘pages’. The template I chose came with four pages already set in the navigation. I clicked on each page on the left side of the screen which brought me to the pages options to change the style and name of page. All of my pages were changed to ‘no header’ style instead of the default option of ‘landing page’ for the main (home) page and ‘tall header’ for the sub-pages. My final step was to press the publish button on the top right of my editing page.
